PERSISMA, Rabat – Morocco is among the top five countries in the ranking of the United Nations Human Rights Committee regarding the implementation of certain priority recommendations for the year 2019.

Morocco, Argentina, Burkina Faso, Denmark and Sweden “received the best grade during the Committee’s follow-up review of their action regarding the priority recommendations”, said a press release on the UN Committee’s website.

All five countries were awarded an “A” grade which recognizes the “important steps” taken to implement the recommendations of the United Nations Human Rights Committee.

Morocco received “A” for the adoption of the law on the national mechanism for the prevention of torture, referring to the National Council for Human Rights, said the same source.

Adopted unanimously by the two houses of parliament on February 6 and 13, 2018, this law was enforced on March 1 of the same year.
