PERSISMA, Prague – The blocking of the free movement of people and goods by the “polisario” undermines peace and security in the Maghreb and Sahel region, said the deputy speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies (lower house) and Chairman of the Czech-Morocco Friendship Group Vojtech Filip.

The blocking of the free movement of people and goods by the Polisario undermines not only the legitimate rights of the Kingdom of Morocco, but also peace and security in the Maghreb and Sahel region as well as the ceasefire negotiated by the UN in 1991, said Mr. Filip in a statement following a meeting with the Moroccan ambassador to the Czech Republic, Ms. Hanane Saadi.

The Czech Republic hailed Morocco’s commitment to the 1991 UN-sponsored ceasefire agreement and called on the “Polisario” to do the same.

The Czech Republic also voiced its “support for the rapid resumption of political dialogue under the aegis of the United Nations in order to achieve a lasting solution to the Sahara issue, while respecting the principles of international law”.
