Morocco, Tanzania Agree to Strengthen relations, Explore New Aspects of Cooperation (Joint Statement)
PERSISMA, Dar es Salaam (01/11/2016) – Morocco and the United Republic of Tanzania agreed to strengthen bilateral relations in various sectors and to explore new aspects of cooperation.
HM King Mohammed VI and Tanzanian President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli “agreed to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation in various sectors, including tourism, agriculture, railways and trade,” and also decided to “continue to explore new aspects of cooperation, particularly in economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields, as well as cooperation on security and the fight against terrorism and radicalism, for the mutual benefit of both countries and peoples”, said the joint statement issued after the official visit paid by HM the King to the United Republic of Tanzania on October 23-25.
The two leaders “welcomed the friendship ties between the two countries and pledged to work together to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries,” the statement said, adding that Morocco and Tanzania reiterated on this occasion, their willingness to open a Moroccan embassy in Tanzania and a Consulate General of the United Republic of Tanzania in Morocco.
In order to meet the aspirations of the two peoples, the two Heads of State instructed their ministers and senior officials to work with determination in order to implement the agreements signed between Morocco and Tanzania, the statement said, adding that it is in this spirit that His Excellency President Magufuli decided to exempt Moroccan nationals form visa requirement to enter the Tanzanian territory.
At the African level, the two countries agreed to work together and coordinate their respective efforts to face the challenges Africa is facing in terms of development, stability and security.
