Ceremonial Welcome in Rabat for HM King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia
PERSISMA, Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and TRH Princesses Lalla Khadija, Lalla Meryem, Lalla Asmae, Lalla Hasnaa and Lalla Oum Keltoum, chaired, on Wednesday at the Meshuar square in Rabat royal palace, an official ceremonial welcome for HM King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, sovereigns of the Kingdom of Spain.
At the entry of Meshuar, a Royal Guard Cavalry squadron escorted the royal cortege from Bab Assufara to the Meshuar square.
Upon the arrival pf the royal cortege at the Meshuar square, HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, as well as his distinguished guests headed to the VIP stand to salute the national flags while the two countries’ anthems were playing. A 21-gun salute was fired to welcome HM King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.
HM King Mohammed VI and his illustrious guests reviewed, afterwards, a detachment of the Royal Guard that paid the honors. His Majesty King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia were greeted by the Head of the Government, the speakers of the two Houses of Parliament, the Minister of State for Human Rights, HM the King’s advisors, government members, the first President of the Court of Cassation, HM the King’s public prosecutor at this Court and Presidents of the Constitutional Councils.
HM King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia were also greeted by the director of the Sovereign’s special secretariat, HM the King’s Chamberlain, the spokesperson of the Royal Palace and historiographer of the Kingdom, the director of the Royal Court, members of the Royal Office, the doyen of the diplomatic corps accredited in Rabat, Chiefs of European diplomatic missions accredited in Rabat, senior officers of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the Director General of National Police and of Surveillance of the national territory, the Director General of intelligence agency (DGED), the Wali of the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region, local elected representatives and representatives of the civil and military authorities of the wilaya.
Subsequently, HM King Mohammed VI was greeted by members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, composed mainly of Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Josep Borrell, Interior Minister Fernando Grande Marlaska, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Maria Reyes Maroto, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Foodstuffs Luis Planas Puchades, Minister of Culture and Sport José Guirao Cabrera and head of the royal household Jaime Alfonsin Alfonso.
