Nigerian FM: Agreements Between Morocco, Nigeria Seek to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
PERSISMA, Rabat – The agreements signed on Friday in Abuja under the chairmanship of King Mohammed VI and Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, attest to the common will of both countries to promote bilateral cooperation, said Nigerian Foreign minister, Geoffrey Onyeama.
In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Onyeama hailed the various agreements signed between the two parties, especially the agreement on developing the fertilizer industry in Nigeria, the agreement on visa exemption for official diplomatic and service passports, the cooperation agreement on the renewable energy field and the memorandum of understanding on the agricultural field.
The agreements are meant to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries and promote South/South cooperation, in accordance with the wishes and visions of the two Heads of States, King Mohammed VI and Muhammadu Buhari, he said.
The Nigerian official also highlighted the complementarity between the economies of both countries, knowing that Morocco is the world’s largest producer of phosphate, while Nigeria has enormous reserves of natural gas.
