Tunisia’s President hopes combined efforts will lead to holding 7th Maghreban Summit

PERSISMA – Tunisia’s President Moncef Marzouki voiced hope to see the current combined efforts of Maghreban countries lead to the holding of the 7th Arab Maghreb Summit.

In a message to King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), President Marzouki said that the summit will be an important step in the Maghreb integration process which will help meet the current and future challenges.

 

On this occasion, President Marzouki reiterated full commitment to deepen consultation and coordination with the Sovereign with a view to “reinvigorating the structures of AMU, opening large prospects to our peoples and achieving their aspirations to further prosperity, stability and solidarity.”

In relation with the summit, the 18th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the five Maghreban countries’ opened on Saturday in Rabat.

The meeting will focus on the assessment of the Maghreban action during the last two years and will determine the exact date for the summit of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU ) that will take place in Tunisia in 2012, Foreign Minister Saad Eddine El Otmani told the press prior to the opening of the meeting.

AMU’s follow-up committee met on Friday in Rabat to outline the order of the day of the ministerial meeting.
