Morocco plays ‘postive role’ at international and regional levels, Russian emissary
PERSISMA, Rabat – Morocco plays a “positive role” at the international and regional levels, said Mikhail Margelov, Special Envoy of the Russian President, Dmitri Medvedev, on Sunday in Rabat.
“Russia counts on Morocco’s positive role in the international, arab and africain arenas,” Margelov told the press following talks with Morocco’s Foreign Minister Taieb Fassi Fihri.
The Russian emissary said that he handed a message to Fassi Fihri from President Medvedev to HM King Mohammed VI.
Margelov, who chairs the foreign affairs committee at the Federation council, voiced satisfaction over the excellent ties between Russia and Morocco, saying that these relations are “historic” and “important”.
He said his visit to Morocco aims at coordinating common action, noting that the situation in the Arab world and Africa was on the top of the meeting’s agenda.
Russia is closely following the latest developments in Tunisia, Egypt, Syria and other countries in the region, he added.
Margelov is on a visit to the Kingdom as part of an African tour that led him to Niger, Mali and Mauritania.
