HM The King Congratulates Michaëlle Jean On Appointment As Secretary General Of The International Francophony Organization
PERSISMA, Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to Ms Michaëlle Jean who was appointed secretary general of the International Francophony Organization.
“Your appointment is a deserved tribute to your high intellectual and moral qualities and to your determined actions for the promotion of the lofty values of peace, progress, democracy and tolerance”, the Sovereign writes in the message.
“Being well aware of the particular interest that you grant to the promotion of the situation of women and children, I am convinced that you will spare no effort to consolidate their role as a vector of development in the Francophone space”, said HM the King who also commended Ms. Jean’s efforts to consolidate the Morocco-Canada friendship and cooperation ties.
Last Sunday, Michaelle Jean, a Canadian stateswoman who served as Governor General from 2005 to 2010, became the third leader of the International Francophony Organisation and the first woman to hold the post.
