PERSISMA, Louga (northern Senegal) – HM King Mohammed VI and Senegalese President Macky Sall on Saturday inaugurated the connection of the villages of Massar Teugue and Yamane Seck, in the rural commune of Sakal, department of Luga, to the national electricity grid.

23 May 2015 Upon their arrival at the project site, HM the King and the Senegalese President were greeted by several Senegalese and Moroccan officials, notably Senegalese Minister of Energy and Development of Renewable Energy, Maimouna Ndoye Seck, and Moroccan Minister of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment, Abdelkader Amara.

Explanations were provided to HM the King and President Macky Sall on the program of rural electrification and geographical division of electrification concessions, the rural electrification concession in the regions of Saint Louis and Louga-Linguere-Kebemer and the rural electrification concessions of Louga through the connection of Yamane Seck and Teugue Massar to the electricity grid.

HM King Mohammed VI and the Senegalese head of State symbolically handed power contracts to six beneficiaries in the villages of Massar Teugue and Yamane Seck.

Then, the two heads of State launched the electrification of the two adjoining villages.

The project is part of two rural electrification concessions awarded to national water and electricity authority (ONEE) by the Senegalese State following two international tenders.

The project, which benefits 87 homes (400 households) and provides electricity to three mosques, two schools and a health center, required a budget of 30 million CFA Francs.
