Morocco was ranked higher than South Africa, Mali and Cameroon, but lower than Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Tunisia (the top three). Moroccan coach Hervé Renard’s former team, Cote d’Ivoire is clearly still at the top, but his work with the Lions is clearly paying off given the country’s growth since last year.
Algeria, Congo DR, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Ghana also scored higher than the North African country.
In terms of FIFA’s world ranking, Argentina stands firmly at the top, while Brazil takes second place, climbing one spot and giving Germany third place.
