Fight against drugs: Morocco denounces Algeria’s ‘systematic accusations’
PERSISMA, Rabat – Morocco denounced Wednesday Algeria’s “systematic accusations” against the Kingdom concerning the fight against drugs, an attitude that reflects the deliberate political choice of Algerian authorities to maintain the status quo which only serves drug traffickers’ and criminal networks’ interests, including terrorist networks in the Sahel region.
“While Morocco’s efforts receive recognition and praise from regional and international partners, Algerian officials continue to provoke controversies over an important issue that concerns the safety and the health of people”, minister of the Interior Mohamed Hassad told journalists during a press conference in Rabat, in presence of the minister of Communication, Government spokesperson Mustapha El Khalfi and the minister-delegate for the Interior Charki Drais.
