Govt. Council adopts 2012 appropriation bill
PERSISMA, Rabat – The government Council, which held a meeting on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the head of government, adopted the 2012 draft appropriation bill.
During the meeting, Economy and Finance Minister made a presentation on the main outlines of the bill.
He said that the preparation of the bill coincides with the adoption of a new Constitution that marked a historic turning point in the process of democratic building, Communications Minister, government spokesman, Khalid Naciri, said at a press briefing following the Council.
At the international level, it was elaborated in an economic situation characterizes by the adverse effects of the global downturn, mainly debt crises, inflationary pressures related to the rise in the prices of oil and raw materials, in addition to political changes in the Middle East and North Africa region.
He added that the government continued to support public investment. Some 759 billion dirhams were allocated, between 2008 and 2012, to support social sectors and consolidate the purchasing power through wage increases (32 billion dirhams) as part of social dialogue, earmarking more than 150 billion dirhams of commodities and 10 billion dirhams for the poor.
As a result, the Minister went on, the per capita income improved and the performance of social sectors developed.
The deficit in 2011 is expected to reach 4%, Naciri noted, saying that that the average budget deficit did not exceed 2.6% of GDP during 2008-2011.
