HM the King, Amir Al Mouminine, dedicates mosque in Rabat and performs Friday prayer
PERSISMA – HM King Mohammed VI, Amir Al Mouminine, dedicated this Friday at the university neighborhood (Madinate Al Irfane) in Rabat the new “Al Oukhoua Al Islamiya” mosque where the Sovereign performed the Friday prayer.
The new mosque, with a capacity of 1,250 faithful, was built by the ministry of Habous and Islamic affairs, part of the construction of the Mohammed VI Institute for the training of Imams, morchidines et morchidates (male and female religious guides), launched last May by the Sovereign.
“Al Oukhoua Al Islamiya”, both a teaching and religious facility, contains two prayer halls, one for men and one for women, a room for Koran teaching and other amenities for the faithful and the mosque attendants.
Designed in pure Moroccan architectural authentic style, the mosque reflects the particular attention that HM the King, Amir Al Mouminine, grants to religious affairs and his steady will to endow Morocco with mosques that combine practicality and aesthetics, allowing the community of believers to practice religious rituals in good condition.
