PERSISMA, Rabat  –  HM King Mohammed VI held today a phone conversation with His Excellency Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General, said on Friday a statement by the Royal Office.

During this phone call, HM the King drew the attention of Guterres to the situation prevailing in the Guergarate region in the Moroccan Sahara due to the repeated incursions by armed members of polisario and their provocative acts.

These premeditated acts are done a month ahead of Morocco’s return to the African union in order to stir up ill-feeling and try, in vain, to torpedo this process, said the statement.

in conformity with the royal orders, the ministries of foreign affairs and of interior, as well as the general inspection of the royal armed forces, have reported, several times, these acts to the MINURSO and the UN, it recalled.

HM the King asked the UNSG to take urgent and necessary measures to put an end to this unacceptable situation which seriously threatens the ceasefire and endangers regional stability.
