HM The King Instructs Competent Authorities To Take Needed Measures To Help Floods Victims

PERSISMA, Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI has issued instructions to the competent authorities to take all the needed emergency measures to help and support floods victims in Morocco, a release of the Royal office said.

“Following the floods in some regions of the Kingdom, particularly the region of Guelmim, that left several dead and missing persons, as well as important material damage, HM King Mohammed VI has issued his high instruction to the competent authorities to take all the needed emergency measures to extend all forms of assistance and support to the victim populations”, the release stated.

The Sovereign, who shares the sorrow of the families of victims and missing persons, has decided to take care of all expenses related to the burial and funeral of the victims as well as the medical care costs for those who were injured in the floods, the royal office also announced.

At least 17 persons died, including 13 in the southern province of Guelmim (southern Morocco), in flash flooding as heavy storms have swept across several regions.
