Kerry: Morocco, a regional stabilization force
PERSISMA, RABAT – The US Secretary of State, John Kerry has described Morocco as a stabilization force for good in the region, claiming his country and the Sharifian kingdom operate on the same wavelength in efforts to reinforce regional security.Speaking during the second session of the US-Morocco Strategic Dialogue, America’s top diplomat hailed the North African nation’s commitment to strengthening regional peace and stability by contributing its armed forces in several peacekeeping missions regularly.
Kerry furthermore lauded what he called Morocco’s proactive stance in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism across the world.
Kerry and his Moroccan counterpart, Salaheddine Mezouar jointly chaired the talks between the two countries on Friday in the capital Rabat.
Held under the theme “The Consolidation of the Cooperation Relations between US and Moroccoâ€�, this year’s edition is intended as a platform to promote and diversify the two countries’ political, economic, social and cultural partnership.
The Strategic US-Morocco Dialogue was launched in 2012 in a bid to create the enabling climate for more cooperation between the two nations.
