PERSISMA, Mohammedia, Jan. 06, 2015 – HM King Mohammed VI launched, on Tuesday in the rural commune of Ech-Chellalate (Prefecture of Mohammedia), two urban projects to relocate 2,274 slum households in Labrahma I and II hamlets.

On this occasion, the Sovereign symbolically handed the allocation certificates to sixteen recipients of “Al Marwa” and “Azzaitoun” projects, which respectively comprise 767 and 370 land plots to relocate slum dwellers.

Part of the slum-clearance program in the Greater Casablanca, these projects (222 million dirhams), launched by HM the King on March 28, 2011, are in line with the efforts aimed at creating joint and integrated residential areas and eradicating slums.

The “Al Marwa” project provides for building 808 land plots, namely 767 lots to relocate slum dwellers, 32 lots of social integration, 7 lots for public facilities and two other lots for commercial activities.

Built on an overall area of 24 ha, the project also features local facilities, some of which have already been built (a school and a middle school), while others are in the process of completion (a mosque, a socio-educational center and a police station).

The “Azzaitoun” project, which covers an overall area of 10 ha, consists of 370 lots to relocate slum dwellers, 25 lots of social integration and three lots for the construction of public facilities, including a social and sports center (already completed).

As part of an interactive local approach, the recipients of these projects will obtain support, notably technical, during all phases of the construction of their future houses.

These projects are part of the regional slum-clearance program in the Greater Casablanca, enforced in accordance with the instructions of HM King Mohammed VI.
