PERSISMA, Elvis Boh – Morocco and Boeing have signed a partnership agreement to setup a Boeing industrial ecosystem in the North African country. The partnership with the world’s flagship manufacturer is expected to bring a new impetus to the Moroccan aviation industry.

“We’ve signed an agreement that we are going to work with our suppliers and ourselves to create an airspace ecosystem,” president of Boeing commercial airplanes, Raymond Conner said.

The industrial ecosystem is expected to generate additional annual revenues from exports worth 1 billion dollars and will bring investments from about 100 of Boeing suplliers. 8700 job opportunities will be created as well as special training sessions for local labour.

“It is the first ecosystem in our aeronautics sector. This project promoted by the King is strategic and important because we are moving into another era of aeronautics in Morocco. We will be able to generate a turnover worth a billion dollars from Morocco,” Morocco’s industry minister, Hafid Elalamy said.

For close to ten years now, Morocco has been manufacturing and supplying parts for several airline manufacturing companies.

According to Morocco’s minister of industry Hafid Elalamy, the aviation sector in Morocco now has 121 actors in aircraft parts manufacturing and is ranked 15th in the domain of investments in the aviation sector.
