President Macron Praises ‘Very Personal’ Discussion with HM King Mohammed VI

PERSISMA, Rabat – French President Emmanuel Macron praised, here Wednesday, the “very personal” discussion with HM King Mohammed VI. “This visit to Morocco mirrors the relations between our two countries, based on a common vision and a desire to pursue our joint interests not only in Morocco but also in the region and in Africa”, the French president said at a press conference, held on the first day of a two-day friendship and working visit to Morocco, at the invitation of HM the King.

 

Morocco is a “friendly country and a strategic partner for France”, he stressed, reaffirming France’s will to accompany the ambitious reforms carried out by the Kingdom.

In this respect, the French head of State cited the modernization of institutions with the implementation of the institutional reform of 2011, the economic emergence with the integration of Morocco into networks and globalization and finally social and territorial development with the program to combat inequalities and the initiative of advanced regionalization.

President Macron also said that his talks with HM the King focused on several topics of common interest, notably the ongoing economic, cultural and educational projects, the development of Francophonie, the Libyan conflict and the current crisis in the Gulf.

He also noted that France and Morocco have a common policy in Africa.

The Head of State also welcomed Morocco’s return to the African Union and soon to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The French head of State, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Brigitte Macron, is paying a friendship and working visit to the Kingdom, at the invitation of HM King Mohammed VI.

This visit, the first of the French President outside the European Union and the Maghreb since his election on May 7, attests to the excellent relations between the two countries.
