Sale: HM the King Inaugurates Mohammed VI Football Complex
PERSISMA, Sale – HM King Mohammed VI inaugurated, on Monday at the Hssain district in Sale, the Maamoura Football National Center after its renovation and reconstruction and named it after himself “the Mohammed VI Football Complex”.
An integrated facility dedicated to the performance and development of a high-level football practice, this complex, carried out by the Moroccan Royal Football Federation (FRMF), shows the solicitude of the Sovereign for sport and youth and his desire to provide national football professionals with all conditions conducive to success.
Bringing together expertise and know-how, the Mohammed VI Football Complex, built on a surface area of 29.3 ha, is intended to host national teams during preparation camps, as well as foreign national teams who wish to undergo training in Morocco.
The opening of this sports facility to foreign teams will help it become a lever for the development of national tourism and will boost the Kingdom’s international influence.
The new complex is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, in line with FIFA standards. It houses residences for the national team A (66 rooms and 4 suites), for national teams U23 (3 blocks of accommodation with a capacity of 150 beds), U17 (45 rooms with a capacity of 80 beds), and for goalkeepers (54 rooms with a total capacity of 98 beds).
It also comprises four natural grass football fields, three artificial turf football fields, an indoor football field, a hybrid football field, a re-training room that can host futsal matches, an outdoor Olympic-sized pool, two tennis courts and a beach soccer field.
The complex also includes a new generation performance and sports medicine center that meets FIFA standards, and has rooms for physiotherapy, stress testing, dentistry, ophthalmology, trauma, psychology, podiatry, nutritional medicine, radiology, ultrasound, electrotherapy, osteodensitometry, cryotherapy, in addition to an emergency mobile medical unit.
It also houses catering and relaxation areas, a 221-seat auditorium built to accommodate various events (conferences or film screenings), as well as administrative buildings.
The completion of the Mohammed VI Football Complex, which required a budget of 630 million dirhams, is part of the implementation of the national program for upgrading national football infrastructure, which provides also for supporting the establishment of National Club Training Centers (RCA, FUS, MAT, WAC, RSB), and constructing 5 federal training centers. They are the Regional Football Center located in Saïdia (project nearing completion) and four others planned in Ifrane, Ksar Lakbir, Beni Mellal and Agadir (projects being studied).
This ambitious program includes mainly the renovation of 138 artificial turf football fields (98 completed) and 13 natural grass pitches, of which 12 have been completed and one is under construction.
