The majority of the African Union countries demand the suspension of “SADR”
PERSISMA – 28 of the 54 members of the African Union submitted a motion calling for the suspension of the SADR activities within the organization.
A step towards the integration of Morocco in the African Union. According to a Moroccan diplomatic source, 28 of the 54 members of the African Union have filed a motion this July 18 to “demand the suspension of the SADR activities” within the African Union. A motion that was sent to the President of the African Union incumbent Idriss Deby. The signatories of this agreement countries have also claimed that the motion “is considered an official document” of the summit, and that it be presented to all members of the Union.
The motion was addressed by the President of Gabon, Ali Bongo, on behalf of Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Comoros, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Eritrea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Libya, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sao Tome and -Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Swaziland, Togo and Zambia.
The full text of the motion:
“Mister President,
The 28 heads of state,
A / Bearing in mind the authentic ideals of the African building;
B / Faithful to the principles and objectives of the African Union, particularly the achievement of greater unity and solidarity between African States, to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity, promoting peace, security and stability on the continent, promoting international cooperation, taking due account of the Nations Charter and the creation of appropriate conditions for the continent to play the role that is hers in the global economy;
C / Regretting the absence of Morocco instances of the African Union, and aware of the specific circumstances in which the “Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic” was admitted to the Organization of African Unity;
D / Welcoming enthusiastically the content of history Message from His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, the President of the 27th AU Summit for distribution to heads of State and Government participating.
1. Welcome the decision of the Kingdom of Morocco, a founding member of the OAU and with the active contribution to the stability and development of the Continent is widely recognized to integrate the African Union and intend to work towards this legitimate return to be effective as soon as possible;
2. Resolve to act for the suspension, next to the “Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic” of the activities of the African Union and all its bodies, to enable the AU to play a constructive role and contribute positively to UN efforts for a final settlement to the regional dispute over the Sahara.
On behalf of these 28 countries, I beg you to be paid this motion among the documents of the Summit and make sure the distribution among Member States.

Note that according to our colleagues Medias24, the self-proclaimed SADR should be expelled from the African Union, if the motion gets the July 18 “support than two-thirds.”
