Casablanca gives French President enthusiastic, colorful welcome
PERSISMA, Casablanca – A warm and colorful welcome was given, Wednesday afternoon in Casablanca, to French President François Hollande who started an official visit to Morocco at the invitation of HM King Mohammed VI.
The inhabitants of Casablanca were very numerous to gather all along the road taken by the cortege of the two heads of state, between the Mohammed V International Airport and the “Lemaigre Debreuil” square, giving the illustrious guest of the Sovereign an enthusiastic and colored welcome.
Upon their arrival in the “Lemaigre Debreuil” square, HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, and the French President reviewed a detachment of the Royal Navy, before they were greeted by the Wali of the Grand Casablanca region and governor of the prefecture of Casablanca, Mohamed Boussaid, and the President of the City Council, Mohamed Sajid, local elected officials, and civil and military personalities.
After being invited to the traditional ceremony of the offering of milk and dates, François Hollande was greeted by the governors of the prefectures of the Grand Casablanca, elected officials and representatives of local authorities.
On this occasion, HM the King and his illustrious guest mingled with the large crowd of people, who had come to the “Lemaigre Debreuil” square to greet the two heads of state, intoning viva at the Sovereign and President Hollande and glorifying the Moroccan-French friendship.
Afterwards, the cortege of the two leaders headed to the Mechouar square at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, escorted by the fanfare and the cavalry of the Royal Guard.
