HM King Mohammed VI Chairs Reception On Throne Day

PERSISMA, Rabat, July 30th, 2014 – HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH crown prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH prince Moulay Rachid, chaired, on Wednesday at the Rabat Royal Palace, a reception on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the sovereign’s accession to throne of his glorious ancestors.

At the beginning of this ceremony, the Sovereign saluted the national flag at the rhythm of the national anthem.

Then, HM the King was greeted by the deans of the diplomatic corps accredited in Morocco, as well as several Moroccan civil and military officials who came to extend their congratulations to HM the King on this occasion.

On this occasion, the Sovereign granted Royal wissam distinctions to several national and foreign figures.

Wissam Al Arch (throne medal), Exceptional Class:

– Abbas El Fassi El Fihri, former prime minister

– Abdelouahed Radi, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and current President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union

– Mustapha Benabdellah, Art teacher at the Royal College

– Mohamed El Mestassi, Chargé de mission at the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery Ministry.

– Mohamed Bennouna, judge at the International Court of Justice

Wissam Alaoui (Alawi medal), second class:

– Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO

– Mohamed “Mo” Ibrahim, businessman and president of the “Mo Ibrahim Foundation” for good governance in Africa

– Mamadou Diana N’Daye, advisor to Senegal’s President for strategic investments and member of the International Economic Union in Harvard University.

– Mohamed Chafik, member of the Academy of the Kingdom and former dean of the Royal Institute of the Amazigh Culture.

– Edgar Morin, thinker, philosopher and humanist, research manager at the France’s National Center of Scientific Research.

– Abderrahim El Allam, author, literary critic and president of Morocco’s writers Union, winner of the 2013 International Manhae Prize in South Korea.

– Rachid Yazami, engineer, researcher and inventor in Lithium-Ion battery technologies, winner of the 2014 Charles Stark Drapper Prize from the National Academy of Engineering (Washington)
