HM the King calls on all political actors to prepare for the next elections
PERSISMA, Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI called on all political actors to good preparation of the forthcoming elections and respect the will of voters. In a speech to both Houses of Parliament on the opening of the first session of the fourth legislative year of the 9th Parliament, the Sovereign stressed that the upcoming elections “should not be an end in itself.” These deadlines, said HM the King, should be a space for political competition between programs and the elite, and “not an arena engage bidding and political battles.”
Therefore, “We urge everyone to be prepared for these deadlines and demonstrate a sincere patriotism respecting the will of the voters,” said His Majesty. “In less than a year of local and regional elections, I address all political actors: What elites and what programs have you prepared for the management of public affairs?”, Questioned the Sovereign before to explain that the biggest challenge facing the Morocco today is not just about the division of powers between the center, the regions and local authorities but relates rather to the effective exercise of those powers and the need to to serve the citizen.
HM the King said that in every election, there is not a winner and a loser, because everyone is a winner. “The winner is the Morocco because even those who do not win the confidence of the majority of citizens, contributing their participation reinforce the dynamism of elected institutions,” said His Majesty, adding that the biggest loser Election is “embodied by those who believe that their seats are an annuity or inheritance acquired ad infinitum. So much so that when they do not win elections, they claim they are rigged. But when they win They are silent, taking advantage of the regularity of elections to access governance, “said His Majesty.
Sovereign said that this year will be teeming with important deadlines, with, first and foremost, the introduction of advanced regionalization, calling on all citizens to get involved in all areas of national action, including voting in elections.
HM the King also stressed the importance of concluding, under the new provisions, the establishment of institutions of participatory democracy and good governance, calling on the Government and Parliament to make greater advice and expertise that available to these institutions.
