PERSISMA, Tunisia – The recently approved constitutional reforms represent a step towards achieving the objectives set by HM king Mohammed VI to meet the aspirations of the Moroccan people, the Tunisian daily paper, Al Moharrir, wrote.

HM the King is laying the basis for a constitutional and parliamentary monarch, the daily’s Editor-in-Chief, Abdellatif  Firati, highlighted in an article published on Thursday.

In the wake of the Arab spring, Morocco has opted for a prospective approach by taking the initiative to modernize the Kingdom’s political arena, he maintained.

He recalled the experience of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission (IER), which was established to investigate past human rights violations.

Firati also pointed to the massive support of the Moroccan people for the new supreme law  which was evidenced by a landslide approval during a referendum held on July 1.
