HM The King Hands Breeding Equipment to Preserve Guinea-Bissau’s Livestock
PERSISMA – HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Guinea-Bissau’s head of state José Mario Vaz, handed, on Thursday 28 May 2015 at the presidential palace in Bissau, breeding equipment granted by Morocco to preserve Guinea-Bissau’s livestock.
This donation, granted by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development, is made of veterinary products to support Guinea-Bissau in developing its animal resources.
On this occasion, HM the King and president José Mario Vaz were given details on the equipment by Bernardo Cassama, director of breeding at Guinea Bissau’s ministry of agriculture and rural development, who voiced his country’s gratitude for this royal gesture.
This initiative stems from the growing awareness of the role of the agriculture and breeding sector in food security, the promotion of economic and social development and the will to reinforce prospects for bilateral cooperation for the interest and the shared goals of the two countries’ agricultural sectors.
These veterinary products will help protect the livestock (cheep, cattle, goats, poultry) against contagious diseases through vaccines, in addition to the amelioration of productivity.
They are also meant to fight against diseases transmissible to humans.
