Increasing Collaboration in Various Fields, Moroccan Foreign Minister Visits Indonesia

PERSISMA, Jakarta – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Nasser Bourita paid an official visit to Indonesia on Monday, October 28, 2019. The arrival of the Moroccan Foreign Minister was in the context of increasing cooperation with Indonesia in various fields.

Accompanied by the Ambassador of Morocco, Mr. Ouadia Benabdella, Foreign Minister Bourita met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi; Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani; and Vice President, Ma’aruf Amin. In addition, Bourita also held meetings with Asean Secretary General Lim Jock Hoi.

At the meeting with Foreign Minister Marsudi, the two countries, Morocco and Indonesia signed a number of cooperation agreements (MoU), including in the fields of trade and economy, industry, and combating international terrorism.

When visiting the Office of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Bourita and Ma’aruf Amin discussed more about cooperation in realizing a peaceful world through the development of the idea of moderate Muslims. Vice President Ma’aruf Amin hopes that Morocco will play a strategic role in promoting peace in the Middle East and the world through dialogues that propose the creation of a tolerant and moderate Islamic society.

Meanwhile, in a 20-minute meeting with the ASEAN Secretary General, Boutira and Hoi discussed various possibilities for Asean cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco. It is known that Morocco is one of the important countries in North Africa which by many countries serve as the gateway to the African continent. In such a position, ASEAN can take advantage of all opportunities for cooperation with various countries in Africa and Europe through Morocco.

Before leaving for Singapore, Foreign Minister Bourita took the opportunity to have a meeting with Ambassador Benabdella and staffs of the Moroccan Embassy in Indonesia, located at the Residence of the Moroccan Ambassador. (APL/Red)
