Danone acquires majority of Centrale Laitière’s shares

PERSISMA – The national investment company, La Société nationale d’investissement (SNI), sold 37.8% of the capital of central laitière to French food company, Danoune, for 6.1 billion dirhams.

Following this transaction, Danoune became a majority stakeholder of Central Laitière, raising its interest to 67%, the SNI said in a statement on Wednesday.

Centrale Laitière, of which Danone has been a 29.2% shareholder since 2001, is Morocco’s leading dairy product company.

The SNI added that it will continue selling shares in line with its program announced in March 2010.
