HM the King arrives in Gabon

PERSISMA, Libreville, Jun 05, 2015 – HM King Mohammed VI arrived, on Friday in Libreville, for a working and friendship visit to the Republic of Gabon, last leg of an African tour that took the sovereign to Senegal, Guinea-Bissau and Côte d’Ivoire.

At the Léon M’Ba international airport of Libreville, HM the King was greeted by Gabonese president Ali Bongo Ondimba.

The sovereign and the Gabonese head of state headed for the VIP stand to salute the flags while the national anthems of both countries were playing, afterwards they reviewed a detachment of the three armies that paid the honours.

HM the King was then greeted by Gabon’s chief of armed forces’ general staff and commander of the national gendarmerie.

HM the King was also greeted by prime minister Daniel Ona Ondo, members of the Gabonese government, members of the president’s office, representatives of the African and Arab diplomatic corps accredited to Libreville and governor of the Estuaire province.

The Gabonese president was greeted by members of the official delegation accompanying HM the King, mainly the sovereign’s advisors Fouad Ali El Himma and Yassir Zenagui, as well as foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar, economy minister Mohamed Boussaid, health minister El Houssaine Louardi and handicraft minister Fatima Merouane.

HM the King is also accompanied by directors of several public and semi-public institutions, businessmen and other figures.

HM the King and the Gabonese head of state were afterwards greeted by Morocco’s ambassador in Libreville, members of the Moroccan embassy and representatives of the Moroccan community and establishments in Gabon.

The official procession headed for the “Renovation” palace in Libreville.
