HM The King Arrives in Guinea-Bissau on Official Visit
PERSISMA – HM King Mohammed VI arrived, on Thursday 28 May 2015 in Bissau, for an official visit to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau as part of an African tour that will also lead the Sovereign to Côte d’Ivoire and Gabon.
At the Osvaldo Vieira international airport of Bissau, HM the King was greeted by Guinea-Bissau’s president, His Excellency José Mario Vaz.
The two leaders headed for the VIP stand to salute the flags while the national anthems of both countries were playing. A 21-gun salute was fired to welcome the sovereign.
HM the King was then greeted by Guinea-Bissau’s prime minister, government members, high-ranking army officers, members of the presidential office, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Bissau, representatives of religious communities and traditional chiefs.
José Mario Vaz was afterwards greeted by members of the official delegation accompanying HM the King and composed notably of HM the King’s advisors Fouad Ali El Himma and Yassir Zenagui.
The Moroccan official delegation includes also foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar, endowments and Islamic affairs minister Ahmed Toufiq, agriculture and fisheries minister Aziz Akhannouch, equipment, transportation and logistics minister Aziz Rabbah, health minister El Hossein El Ouardi, energy, mining, water and environment minister Abdelkader Aamara, tourism minister Lahcen Haddad, and handicraft minister Fatema Marouane, in addition to several directors of public and semi-public bodies.
After a short break at the airport VIP lounge, the official procession headed for the presidential palace.
