HM the King chairs closing ceremony of 20th meeting of Al-Quds Committee in Marrakech
PERSISMA, Marrakech – His Majesty King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, chaired, Saturday afternoon at the Royal Palace of Marrakech, the closing session of the 20th meeting of Al-Quds Committee in the presence of President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas.
HM the King gave a speech in which the Sovereign stressed “the need for unity of ranks, effective action and the highest degree of solidarity and commitment.”
“As Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, and consistent with the pledge made to our Palestinian brothers and to their legitimate National Authority, under the guidance of brother Abu Mazen, I promise to pursue my efforts to support the steadfast struggle of the Palestinian people and to push forward the peace process, whose key element is a fair settlement of the issue of Al Quds al-Sharif,” he said.
President of the State of Palestine, for his part, expressed his high regard to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for his continuous support to the Palestinian cause and the tireless efforts of the Sovereign in favor of Al-Quds.
Abbas, highly praised the decisions taken by the 20th meeting of Al-Quds Committee, “which will help support the struggle of the Palestinian people and the preservation of Muslims and Christians holy places in Jerusalem.”
The Palestinian President presented to HM the King a report that describes the violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces in Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The closing session was also marked by the reading of the Final declaration, issued by Foreign Minister, Salaheddine Mezouar.
This meeting was attended by Head of Government, Abdelilah Benkirane, Advisors to the Sovereign, Fouad Ali El Himma, Abdellatif Menouni and Omar Kabbaj, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, Director General of Bayt Mal Al-Quds, Abdelkébir Alaoui M’Daghri, heads of delegations attending the meeting, as well as high-level emissaries representing the permanent members of the security Council, the European Union, the Vatican and the Arab League.
