Morocco’s El Jamri elected vice-chairman of UN Human Rights Treaty Body System
PERSISMA, Geneva – At the 12th UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies and Inter-Committee Meeting, which kicks off on Monday in Geneva, Abdelhamid El Jamri, Moroccan UN expert and head of the Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, was elected vice-chairman.
The Australian Ronald Clive McCallum was elected chairman.
El Jamri joined the UN human rights system on the occasion of his election in 2003 as a member of the Committee on the Rights of Migrant Workers.
He was elected by his peers as Vice-chairman in 2006 and as chairman since 2008.
