Younès Tssouli, who set fire in his family’s house in Rabat before taking refuge on a rooftop, neutralized by Police forces (Interior)

PERSISMA, Rabat, May 22 2015 – On Thursday night, the prefectoral service of the Judiciary Police of Rabat has successfully managed to neutralize Younès Tssouli, expulsed from Britain and who set fire to his parents’ home before taking refuge on a rooftop, the Interior Ministry indicated.

The individual threatened citizens and Police forces with edged weapons. He was neutralized around 23:00, after long negotiations with the assistance of a psychiatrist from Rabat’s Prefectural Police, which lasted more than 13 hours, details the Ministry in a press release.

 

Police Services managed to stop and disarm the individual when they raided the rooftop he used as a refuge. Security measures were undertaken in coordination with the other competent authorities spared citizens as well as members of the police forces, having led the operation, from getting injured, added the same source.

The Prosecutor’s Office, after having been informed of the development of this case, has given its instructions to place the individual in a psychiatric hospital for a medical expertise. Younès Tssouli was expulsed Wednesday from Britain where he had been serving a sentence for terrorism.
