Official Welcoming Ceremony in Rabat for Nigerian President

PERSISMARabat – HM King Mohammed VI chaired, on Sunday at the Mechouar Square in the Rabat Royal Palace, an official welcoming ceremony for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Muhammadu Buhari, who is on an official working and friendship visit to Morocco.

At the Mechouar Square, HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid. And the Nigerian President headed for the VIP stand to salute the national flags while the two countries’ anthems were playing.

A 21-gun salute was fired to welcome President Buhari.

Afterwards, HM the King and his distinguished guest reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard which paid the honours.

President Buhari was then greeted mainly by the head of government, the speakers of the two houses of the parliament, HM the King’s advisors, government members, the high commissioner for planning, and the high commissioner for waters. Also, by the forests and fight against desertification, and the high commissioner for war veterans and former members of the liberation army.

HM King Mohammed VI was greeted by members of the official delegation accompanying the Nigerian President, notably Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Governor of Jigawa State, David Nweze Umahi, and Governor of Ebonyi State, Audu Ogbeh. Also by the minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Adamu Adamu, minister of Education, and Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The Nigerian President was then greeted by members of the Honorary Committee, which includes Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita.
