HM the King inaugurates Mohammedia’s steel-manufacturing complex, Maghreb Steel’ worth 5.7 bn dirhams
PERSISMA, Chellalate commune (province of Mohammedia) – HM King Mohammed VI inaugurated, on Thursday at the Chellalate commune (province of Mohammedia), the steel-manufacturing complex “Maghreb Steel”, carried out for an amount of 5.7 billion dirhams.
The project, which mirrors the special interest the Sovereign takes in developing the industrial sector, will meet the ever-growing demand for top quality steel products due to the increasing urbanization, the infrastructure development and the Kingdom’s openness on the world.
The complex offers a variety of products (2.9 million tons/year) used mainly in the sector of building and public works, and in the electrical goods industry.
The complex, which has become gradually operational, employs over 2,000 people and its production is directed towards the markets of Europe (56%), Africa (27%), Asia (13%) and the Middle East (4%).
This project will be the driving force of the Bled Solb region, which will stretch over 130 hectares and host leading industrial units, a training center, public utilities, local community-based equipment, a trade center, a mosque, and entertainment and green areas.
Investments in this industrial zone are expected to reach 10 billion dirhams, which would generate around 20,000 jobs.
