HM the King accompanied by Malian Pres. launches building works of cement plant in Bamako region
PERSISMA, Bamako – HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Malian president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, launched, on Saturday in Diago town, thirty kilometers from Bamako, the construction works of a cement plant.
This cement plant, to be carried out by the Cimat-Cimaf group, has a production capacity of 500,000 tons of cement yearly (extendable to 1,000,000 tons per year).
It will include a crushing workshop (ball mill with a capacity of 70 tons/hour equipped with a dynamic separator and a bag filter), a bagging and shipping workshop with two rotary packers in bulk, covered storage halls for clinker and additions, and administrative, commercial and technical buildings.
The plant’s activity will consist of importing clinker from two cement plants in Morocco, unloading it at the port and carrying and crushing it for the production and marketing of all types of cement.
This project, to be built over a surface area of 10 hectares, will be constructed within 18 months and is worth 30 million euros.
The Bamako cement plant is designed according to the latest technology standards. It is environment-friendly and will optimize energy consumption and cement production meeting standards in force and market’s requirements.
A share of 15% of the plant’s initial investment is devoted to the environment.
The Cimant-Cimaf group has two production units in Morocco (Béni-Mellal and Settat regions) and are operational since 2010, while a third unit is under construction in the Nador region.
At the African level, the Group is present in Guinea Conakry, Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon, while units in Mali, Burkina Faso and Congo are under construction.
