HM the king Chairs in Marrakech Council of Ministers

PERSISMA, Marrakech – HM King Mohammed VI chaired, Thursday at the royal Palace in Marrakech, a council of ministers, says a statement by spokesman of the royal Palace, Abdelhak Lamrini.

At the beginning of the Council’s proceedings, HM the King was briefed by minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Abdelkader Amara, on the current fill rate of the kingdom’s dams, compared to the same period of the previous year.

Amara pointed out that this rate currently reaches nearly 64 pc compared to 39 pc during the same period of the past year.

Afterwards, the Council of ministers adopted two draft decrees relating to military matters, notably the implementation of the provisions of law 44-18 on military service.

Complete the Census Form

The purpose of these two projects is to establish the procedures for the identification, selection and recruitment of persons subject to military service and the procedure for exemption from military service, as well as the spontaneous declaration procedure allowing women and Moroccans residing abroad to complete the census form on their own initiative, in addition to the special allowance for conscripts’ charges in the southern zone and the salary and allowances decided in favor of reserve staff who will be recruited again.

As part of the implementation of the military service law, HM the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, has given his high instructions to increase the number of conscripts to 10,000 in the current year, before raising this figure to 15,000 in the coming year.

In accordance with Morocco’s regional and international commitments and with a view to consolidating the Kingdom’s cooperation relations with a number of brotherly and friendly countries, the Council of ministers has adopted eight international agreements with draft legislation.

Among these agreements, three are multilateral, respectively relating to the establishment in Rabat of the headquarters of the African migration Observatory, the hosting of the regional coordination Unit (UCR) in accordance with Annex I of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, and the setting up of the national Office of the Kingdom of Morocco for the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.

With regard to the five bilateral agreements, they aim to strengthen Morocco’s relations with Great Britain concerning the British school system in Morocco, and the Republic of India in relation to legal assistance in criminal matters, legal and judicial cooperation in civil and commercial issues, in addition to air services.

Appointed Ambassadors

In accordance with the provisions of article 49 of the Constitution, and on the proposal of the head of government, and at the initiative of the Interior minister, HM the King has appointed a number of walis and governors to the territorial and central administration.

And on the proposal of the head of government and on the initiative of the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, HM the King has appointed several ambassadors. They are:

Ahmed Rahhou, ambassador of HM the King to the European Union;

Hassan Tariq, ambassador of HM the King to the Republic of Tunisia;

Mohamed El Basri, ambassador of HM the King to the Netherlands;

Mustapha Benkhiyi: ambassador of HM the king to the Kingdom of Bahrain;

Imane Ouadil, ambassador of HM the King to the Republic of Ghana;

Youssef Slaoui, ambassador of HM the king to Burkina Faso;

Abdelfettah Lebbar, ambassador of HM the king to the United Mexican States;

Abderrahim Atmoun, ambassador of HM the King to the Republic of Poland;

Mohamed Achkalou, ambassador of HM the King to the Republic of Finland.

On the proposal of the head of government and on the initiative of the minister of Economy and Finance, HM the King has appointed:

Dounia Taarji, chairwoman of the executive board of the Hassan II Fund for economic and social development.

Abid Amrane, director general of the Ithmar al Mawarid Fund, which was called the Moroccan tourism development Fund.

Also, on the proposal of the head of government and on the initiative of the minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and the Digital Economy, HM the King has appointed Sidi Mohamed Idrissi Meliani, director general of the digital development Agency.
