HM The King, Commander Of The Faithful, Chairs Religious Evening In Rabat In Commemoration Of Eid Al Mawlid Annabawi

PERSISMA, Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and HH Prince Moulay Ismail, chaired a religious evening in commemoration of Eid Al Mawlid Annabawi on Saturday in Hassan Mosque in Rabat following the Maghrib Prayer.

This religious evening was marked by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and panegyrics of the Prophet PBUH.

On this occasion, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, presented to HM the King the assessment report of the activities of the Higher Ulema Council and its local branches.

The Minister highlighted that the last year was marked by a series of measures taken by the Council notably in terms of preserving the Holy Quran and religious guiding of citizens.

The Minister also recalled the importance attached by HM the King to mosques and traditional Islamic education.

The management of the religious sphere in Morocco is inspired by the institution of the Commandership of Believers and is guided by the sacred values of the religion, the Minister said.

Afterwards, HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, handed the Mohammed VI Award of Merit in Islamic Thought and Studies to Ibrahim El Hilali from Marrakech. This distinction is awarded annually to encourage research in Islamic studies.

His Majesty the King was then greeted by El Hossein El Bakkali from Tangier who was awarded, by the Sovereign, the Mohammed VI international Award for Memorization, Declamation and Exegesis of the holy Quran.

On the same occasion, the Monarch handed Ahmed El Khaldi from Rabat the Mohammed VI international Award for Psalmody of the holy Quran, with memorization of five “ahzab”.

HM the King also awarded the Mohammed VI Award in Moroccan calligraphy to Abdellatif Timezt from Casablanca and the Mohammed VI Award of Excellence in Moroccan calligraphy to Youssef Bouzekri from Rabat. The two calligraphists presented to the Sovereign some of their works.

HM the King was greeted by the members of the jury of the Mohammed VI Award in Islamic Studies.

The religious ceremony was attended by the Head of Government, the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament, Advisors to His Majesty the King, members of government, presidents of constitutional bodies, senior officers of the Royal Armed Forces, members of the Islamic diplomatic corps accredited to Rabat, and other civil and military personalities.
