HM the King visits Moroccan field hospital in Jordan’s Zaatari refugee camp

PERSISMA, Al Mafraq – HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid visited, Thursday afternoon, the military medico-surgical field hospital set up by Morocco in the region of Zaatari in favour of the Syrian refugees in the governorate of Al Mafraq, northern Jordan. On this occasion, the Sovereign gave two donations to the Syrian refugees in the camp.

 

On his arrival, HM the King was greeted by General Inspector of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, General Abdelaziz Bennani, Brigadier General Ali Abrouk, inspector of military health service, Colonel Moulay El Hassan Tahiri, head doctor of the Moroccan field hospital, Colonel Khalil Abou El Alaa, specialist of anaesthetics and Colonel Hicham Idrissi, head of the fifth office at the hospital.

HM the King was also greeted by governor of Al Mafraq Abdellah El Khattab, secretary general of the Jordanian charity organization Ayman Al Mouflih, deputy director general of Jordanian royal medical services, General Khalaf Mansour, Colonel Jihad Makhzoumi, liaison officer for military hospitals in Zaatari camps, UNICEF’s representative Dominique Hyde and UNHCR’s representative in Jordan Andrew Harper.

Afterwards, HM the King was informed of the field hospital’s equipment as well as services offered between August 10 and October 15 for the benefit of 22,805 refugees.

HM the King, accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and HH Prince Ghazi Bin Muhammad, head of the honor delegation, visited the different services of the hospital where the sovereign was given details on the health conditions of several refugees and their children who are receiving health care.

On this occasion, the monarch handed the head doctor two donations by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation benefitting Syrian refugees in the Zaatari camps.

The Foundation’s donation is made up of 6,000 blankets (5,000 for the elderly and 1,000 for infants and children), 7 incubators for newborns and 1,000 units of medical material for infants.

The Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation’s donation includes consignments of drugs, medical equipment and foodstuffs.

HM King Mohammed VI’s initiative is a noble gesture that mirrors the Sovereign’s personal commitment to human causes and his concern to give concrete substance to the values of solidarity and cooperation. It also seeks to ease the burden of the Kingdom of Jordan and support its laudable efforts to welcome the displaced Syrians, notably women and children.
